Apocalypto Now en Cuevana. Apocalypto Now weaves found footage from numerous sources through a documentary on the history of the Hollywood disaster movie. Reality and fiction are blurred in imagery relating to climate change, terrorism, the Christian idea of the apocalypse, and the making of Mel Gibson’s 2004 film The Passion of the Christ. Global destruction is alternately portrayed as an urgent threat, ultimate fear, and ecstatic fantasy. For the original presentation of the work at the Ludwig Museum in Cologne, solar panels were installed on the roof of the building to power the work.
